Rita LeAndrea Capelton was born July 27, 1973 in St. Louis, MO to Herbert L. and Dororthy M. Capelton. She was the youngest of two girls. Her mother preceded her in death.
Rita began her education at Mark Twain Elementary School and graduated from St. Matthew Lutheran School. She graduated from Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School.
Rita completed Grabber School of Hair Design and was a certified cosmetologist. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Harris Stowe State University, a Master of Arts in Special Education and a Reading Specialist Certification from Fontbonne University.
Rita worked numerous jobs, but being an educator was her true passion. She inspired many children in her teaching career at Hope Child Development Center, St. Louis Public Schools, and Special School District of St. Louis County.
Rita confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was baptized at the age of five at Trinity Mt. Carmel M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. George Crawford. She was very active in Trinity for many years. Rita was affiliated with other congregations as the Lord directed her.
Rita's final place of worship was with the Oil of God Ministries under the leadership of Apostle Ariette Williams where she served faithfully. During her illness Rita continued to minister to everyone she came in contact with expressing her love for Jesus.
Rita loved to sing praises to God. She sang with Gospel Music Workshop, True Spirit, and several other choirs and groups. Rita was called to rest in the presence of the Lord on October 3, 2012.
Rita leaves to cherish her loving memory: father, Herbert L.Capelton; sister, Renita Lyn Capelton; nephew, Dominique M. Capelton; uncles' Jimmie (Arabelle) Capelton, Granville Martin, William (June) Martin, George Martin; aunts' (Marie) Martin, Annie (James) Sawyer, Bettie Chism, Zelma Jones, and Synetta Martin; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
