Vanneata (Neata) Mayrel Henderson, (84 yrs old) of St. Louis, Mo. Went home to be with her LORD and Saviour on August 4, 2026, with her loving and devoted best friends and husband Andrew Henderson right by her side. She was born in St. Louis, MO on January 28, 1941, to Elgie B. Young and LaDorris (Nelson) Young.

Vanneata and her younger sister Louanna Blanche Bradley (who preceded her in death) were loving raised by the God-fearing Grandmother Sarah Nelson, Grandfather Thomas Nelson, Great-grandmother Pearl Conn and Aunt Norcella (Nelson) & Edward Pleasant after the early passing of their mother.

She graduated from Soldan High School. She loved to sing. And sang in several choirs throughout her life. Most notably the 100 Member Choir that toured several states, while she was employed at the Federal Record Center. That's where she met her best friend. And the love of her life, Andrew Henderson. She also sang and served as a member of the Washing Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church choir for many years. She took great joy in decorating for Christmas, both in her home and at the church. She had a deep love for gardening and maintained a manicured yard filled with beautiful flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed many crafts. She enjoyed bowling and fishing among other activities. Although when fishing, she preferred not to bait her hook without wearing big rubber gloves. Though small in stature, she was a feisty, and a courageous protector of those she loved, especially her younger sister Blanche, her children, her grandchildren, and anyone in need. She was never intimidated by another person's side of attitude, and displayed strength and determination from her childhood. Inspired by her father, Elgie, who was a boxer, she developed a lasting appreciation for watching a good match.

She loved wholeheartedly and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband Andrew, her children: Ramont and (Earlene) Manuel, Ladorris and (Malcom) Woodley. Stepchildren: Leslie Young, Terry Macklin, Jeffery Henderson (preceded her in death) Joanne McPherson and Sharon Dash. Her grandchildren: Nagisa Manuel, Cedric Woodley, Eric and (Diane) Woodley, Darric and (Alliyah) Woodley, Blair Young-Slaughter and (Alan) and Paid and (Corey) Messer. Kohana Marek, Savannah Marek: Great grandchildren: Darric Jr., Devon, Carter, Lovie, Orion, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
